CANTERBURY CENTRE

The MG Car Club (Canterbury Centre) Inc. caters for owners, drivers and all those who are passionately interested in MGs of all ages, in the Canterbury, Nelson Marlborough and West Coast areas.

We welcome all models, sports and saloon, from vintage to the latest MGF, providing social and competitive events  for all interests and ages.

Events range from traditional motorkhanas, sprints, navigation trials and concours to all sorts of social events in and out of our MGs.

We also offer two or three weekend touring events per annum, summer and winter, designed strictly for fun and to involve out of town members.

The Club also invites and receives invitations from other Marque clubs for a variety of events.

From simple relaxed runs on our uncrowded country roads, funkhanas treasure hunts, garage raids to the Spring Dinner or the mid winter breakfast you will enjoy the friendly atmosphere of a club that takes pride in the MGCC motto "The Marque of Friendship"

Club membership offers ready-made opportunities for contact with those of similar interest throughout the North and South Islands.

We also maintain affiliation with the MG Car Club UK Ltd and less formal links with similar organisations in Australia, Canada, the USA, and South Africa, in fact almost anywhere MGs are driven and enjoyed.

Club Night

We have a regular social noggan'n'natter meeting on the first Friday evening of each month (except January) at the Cashmere Club, 88 Hunter Tce. Beckenham, (entry from Colombo St - by the fountain).

Plenty of off-street parking, comfortable surroundings, and an excellent 2 course meal available @ $15.00 per person (includes coffee and the hire of a large comfortable room for our exclusive use).

Meet at around 7.30 pm before the meal, or join us just for coffee, good company and (generally) a speaker. All owners and drivers of the Marque are most welcome". We normally complete the evening with a speaker on topics MG or related 'stuff'.

"The Canterbury MaG "

Published bi-monthly this is the official organ of the Canterbury Centre offering news, details of coming and past events, MG information and regular feature articles on a variety of topics MG.

Membership

Annual subscription is $40.00 (includes partner and children up to student age) while a nominal entry fee is charged for most events (normally $2.00 each). Speed events are usually around $25.00 to cover track hire and related costs.

Special events

A number of traditional events are held every year. In Canterbury these include, lunch runs like the Kimber Anniversary run or the Winter Woollies run, the Spring Dinner, the Christmas Picnic and three day 'adventures' at Labour and Queen's Birthday weekends.

We are also involved in a number of regional and national MG events, from two to five day rallies through to race meetings.
