If you are looking for a project for those long winter days this is your chance. I bought this car as a running, driving project. It's not getting in any better condition and I've not had any time to do anything to it. So I think it’s time for it to go to someone else who has time for it and knows what he is doing. Areas requiring attention: Floorboards, sills, engine bay and castle rail. It would need to be towed as it is not warranted and registration on hold.
90333 Miles, Speedometer reads in Miles; 4 Speed; Splined hubs & wire wheels (incl spare); Original MGB Manual; Near new tyres (7mm); Good condition hood; Full tonneau cover; Pioneer Radio/CD (2yrs old); No Warrant (Failed in October 2009); Registration on hold (till May 2011); The car has been garaged; The interior is in good condition (comes with the large MGB 3-spoke steering wheel).
Paint is in a decent condition for age, with some chips around the body. Some receipts available since 1974. Engine alive, but runs rich (Oil PSI 60 by 50Km, stationary PSI 20).

Seeking new caring owners; have been good cars but sadly neglected for a year or 3. Open to suggestions to a kind home.
Midget Details: Have owned it since about 1982-3. When I went overseas it got stored in a barn for about 16 years then when I came back it has mainly been out in the weather. It has not been run or been registered since November 1984. The soft top (vinyl) was new in 1984.

“B” details: Was purchased in London in 1986 and fully restored in 1986-7 by Baldock Motors in the UK. This included a reconditioned engine, Spax shocks, some new body panels (can’t remember which), paint job, under-floor sealing. Has a Double Duck soft top and a Tonneau cover, and a UK MG Owners Club Hard top. I brought it back to NZ in 1997. Has not been VIN’d or registered here. Although it has also not been run it should be a fundamentally good car. It certainly drove well in the UK. Also have a MGB parts catalogue and MGB Workshop Manual as well as a few bits and pieces left from the restoration. If anyone has a genuine interest they are welcome to view. We live 6 km off SH1 10 minutes south of Warkworth and any viewing would have to be by arrangement.

Standard bore - no oversize marks on pistons and virtually no lip at the top of the bore. Head is off - bores look reasonable. May get away with a hone, and new rings. Flywheel is unmarked. Sump could be taken off for crankshaft inspection. Minus generator, water pump, and distributor. With 3 into 2 to 1 exhaust manifolds, but no inlet manifold. Price is negotiable.

Details of the project in my garage. 1978 MGB.Drove it into the shed before dismantling it, was running 40psi oil press at idle. Front and rear suspension has been rebushed, painted with POR15. A conventional shock absorber kit has been fitted, front and rear. Engine untouched, ran fine, g-box o/d model worked fine. One new front guard, rest of body has been partially stripped to bare metal. Body needs a bit of work!! Have inspected the diff, all seems OK. Mini-lite mags, unused as well as original rims. The seats that arrived with it were after market, but I have original frames, no cushions. Hood OK,and unused tonneau cover. But the rego is on hold!!! Body is on ply dics attached to front and rear so it can be rolled over with ease.

Parts
- LR4SP ( Lynn Rogers, 4, Scatter Pattern ) billet camshaft. Basically a Kent 296sp on a new billet blank ( when it was made ). Good spread of hp and torque, nice cam for circuit racing and Targa ( I know from experience ). Not really suitable for road use, but maybe ok for fast road if you can live with it. Selling it because I have gone to a bigger cam. In good condition, no wear ( these cams are hardened, with soft cam followers ). I had it installed with an offset drive key to get the timing correct for my engine configuration, and you may need to do the same. $350 ono.
- Brand new ( in box, with all connectors etc ) cloth wiring loom for MKI MGB. I had this made to suit a MKI car, with a few changes - alternator instead of generator, 2 speed wipers instead of single speed, 4synchromesh pre-engaged starter motor instead of the 3 synchromesh Bendex starter motor. Has wiring for overdrive. Open to reasonable offers.
- Garage sale. I have wrecked 5 MGB / MGB GT's, MK I's and MK II's ( chrome bumper ). I have a garage full of all the parts "as removed" from them, everything from small trim pieces to aluminium bonnets, complete front suspensions ( wire wheel and disc wheel ) and a tube-type rear axle.
