MG Car Club - National Rally

The next National Rally, is based in Christchurch - the Garden City.

The New Zealand National MG rally is an opportunity for all MG owners from Pre War, Pre ’56, The Mighty MGB Brigade, MGF’s and all the saloons in-between to get together and share camaraderie in their common passion – MG’s.

It happens every 2 years and in 2010 Christchurch is our destination for this not to be missed event.

As the hub of the Mainland, Christchurch, as an international destination, offers visitors a wealth of activities, a rich historic heritage and from the Alps to the Sea with scenery unrivalled.

Our calendar of events for the Rally looks like this:

Sunday March 28	Arrive Registration and Evening get together	You’ll get all your Rally info in a pack and stay on at the Cashmere Club – our Rally HQ for a BBQ style dinner
Monday March 29	Concourse d’etat and Shine & Show	The concourse will be held close to the city centre leaving you free to wander the streets before freshening up for dinner at a venue with unparallel views
Tuesday March 30	Scenic Trial	There’s lunch included today but the evening is yours to do what you like
Wednesday March 31	Competitive Event Day	Our venue for the competitive events is the old Wigram aerodrome – they have a café for you to buy your lunch. The evening event is the Rally Dinner & Prize giving
Thursday April 1st	Farewell Breakfast and Depart	Come on back to the Rally HQ before you depart for breakfast

We’re hosting the Rally in Christchurch at the end of March to coincide with two other significant events – the internationally acclaimed Warbirds over Wanaka (more about that later) and the National Easter MG Rally.

Starting Sunday give you a chance to travel to Christchurch over the weekend and finishing Thursday affords you the time to travel on down to Wanaka for Warbirds or back up to the central North Island for the Easter Rally.

This year it’s the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rally and I’m sure most North Islanders will want to include this event on their way back home.

If you want to travel deeper into the Southern Alps, Warbirds over Wanaka is the event for you. The organisers of this event will have a huge lineup of significant historic war birds and displays including a Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawke that will be firing all 6 of its machineguns with live ammunition….

We have managed to hold the entry fee for the Christchurch Rally to that of 2008 - $295.00 per person (this excludes accommodation) so, book this event into your calendar now and get ready for further information including registration details, accommodation locations, rally program and things to do in the Mainland.
