Club socials for 2027 will feature a wide range of get-togethers, from dinners at local restaurants and lunches at favourite cafés, to summer BBQs at members’ homes and picnics at scenic spots around the region. To ensure everyone has an event close to home, venues will rotate across Wellington City, the Hutt Valley, Tawa, Porirua, the Kāpiti Coast, and the Wairarapa. Start times will vary depending on the type of gathering and location. Look out for event details in upcoming emails from our Member Engagement Officer, Lola Makower (engagement@mgcarclub.org.nz), as well as on the club events calendar. Please note: There is typically no social event held during the month of the AGM.
The Old Specked Hen (OSH) runs are a mid week run held normally on the last Thursday of each month. The run usually ends up at a place of interest, a café or a restaurant after a pleasant short, or sometimes longer drive over some unusual routes and occasionally off-the-beaten-track. Our Sunday programme features many club favorites, including the relaxed Big Brekkie Runs—heading out early to enjoy good roads and a hearty morning meal—and the annual Cecil Kimber Run, celebrating the heritage and founding father of the MG marque. Beyond our regular drives, February brings the British and European Car Day at Trentham Memorial Park—an unmissable showcase featuring a fantastic turnout of club vehicles on display to the public. Easter will see us heading away to the MG Car Club Easter Rally in New Plymouth, where members from both the Auckland and Wellington centres will vie for honours across Concours, Motorkhana, Autocross, and an Observation Trial. The Committee usually meets on the first Monday of each month except in January. Club members are welcome to attend Zoom committee meetings and can obtain the Zoom meeting code from the Secretary.
