THE GREYTOWN WINTER FESTIVAL UPDATE
June 27 -29th 2025.
Accommodation:
The festival is operating for 4 weeks from the last weekend in June to end of July, however due to its popularity we only able to get accommodation at The Oaks Motel in Greytown on the first weekend. I was fortunate to have secured all available units for members who booked directly with the Motel.
If you have booked accommodation there and now find you are unable to attend, please let me know immediately, (smwhewitt@gmail.com) as we have members looking for accommodation.
I have been in contact with nearly all other commercial accommodation providers in Greytown regarding what else is available without much luck however Wotif seems to be the best website to go to for possible accommodation if you are wanting accommodation.
If you want to drive over for the day on Saturday to join the others for breakfast at the Main Street Deli and then lunch at Homewood, and head home afterwards you would be very welcome.
The Top Pub may have accommodation still available but get in quickly. This is a very old character filled pub with a narrow staircase but very clean bedrooms with shared bathrooms. If this is not to your liking there is always Carterton, Masterton, Featherston and Martinborough to research.
Please let me know of your attendance Breakfast Lunch and Dinner at soonest so I can amend bookings.
The Program:
Friday night: This is the first night of the Festival with the Main Road closed to traffic. We have booked a dinner reservation at the Top Pub, which will be offering us a special dinner menu. Please advise me (smwhewitt@gmail.com) of your dietary requirements so they can be incorporated into the menu.
There is plenty of safe parking at the rear of the hotel. (otherwise quite a walk for those staying at the Oaks which is at the other end of Greytown!)
Breakfast: has been arranged at the Main Street Deli on Saturday and Sunday. Whether you want coffee, cabinet food, or full breakfast before heading off to the Coast, it will be available for you. There is parking in West Street and the parking lot behind the shops coming out into West Street.
Lunch: We will be leaving from the Main Street Deli and heading toward (via a circuitous route) Homewood Café on the coast. Some of you will remember last year’s trip there and the wonderful lunch. Approximately the last 12 kms. of the trip ending at the Café is gravel returning via the same route to the seal.
Saturday Evening: On your return from lunch the evening will be free to wander through the Main Street of Greytown enjoying all that the festival has to offer, including food trucks and the cafes that will be open to serve the crowds.
Unfortunately, the program for the festival has not been released yet, when available I will forward it to members who have advised me of their attendance
Sunday: Meet up at Main Street Deli for coffee, cabinet food, or breakfast before you leave Greytown and perhaps go further afield to Martinborough, Masterton, Carterton for Featherston for a look see, or shopping before heading over the hill to home.
